The Potato Party!

The Inaugural Edition hosted by Esther & Tom

‘Twas the Night of the Potato

‘Twas the day of The Potato Party, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even our mouse.

Potato peels were hung through the room with cheer, in hopes that our spud buds would soon be here.

Esther placed the letters onto the wall, but needed a chair despite being so tall.

Tom sliced our potatos ever so thin, all with his brand new Japanese mandoline.

Three crowns were made (by the queen herself) to fit on three victors with dishes top shelf.

Our potato friends boiled and broiled and cooked, some with family recipes while others, a book.

As the potatoes in pots began to bubble and steam, Beto poured potato vodka from a bottle that gleamed.

As soon as we finished up all the decor, there they were, our beautiful friends, right at our door!

And then two by two and four by four, our friends entered the house not knowing what was in store.

A crown! Bacon taters! a welcoming shot! the oven was full and the stove was hot.

Then finally, at last, we were all good to go, and out came the first soup, Ajiaco.

Potato leek soup was next on the docket, then perogies, gratin, and tteok-boki to top it.

One at a time each dish was well served, we filled up our bellies with what we deserved.

Last but not least, two desserts went around! Quebec candy, Haitian cake, we could eat them by the pound!

Potatoes are about to come out of the kitchen!

Then the moment of truth arrived just in time, out went voting cards to be filled line by line.

Three votes, three dishes that four spud buds did bring, with full smiles and hearts they were crowned queens and king!
